Ukraine's Yanukovich makes comeback as prime minister

 

Viktor Yanukovych, a pro-Moscow opposition leader, has been approved as prime minister.

Lawmakers approved Yanukovych in a 271-9 vote after President Viktor Yushchenko _ Yanukovych's presidential rival in 2004 - nominated his former archrival as premier. Yushchenko said the alternative - dissolving parliament and calling new elections - would have been a blow to the country.

The young supporters of the Orange Revolution were especially disappointed.
