Canadian-Ukrainian “Find a Friend” program for orphans

Thanks to Ukrainian-Canadian “Help Us Help the Children” initiative and Ukraine's Ministry of Family and Youth Affairs have introduced a new program for the country's orphans.
The program is called “Find a Friend” ands it involves organizing summer camps for orphans together with children who live in regular family environments.
The pilot project will begin in early August at the regular site of the “Help Us Help the Children” camp in Vorokhta, Ivano-Frankivsk oblast. This year, around 400 children are expected to take part. According to Family and Youth Affairs Minister Yuri Pavlenko, similar camps are planned for Odesa and Donetsk. Pavlenko said he is confident that with time the program will be introduced in all of Ukraine’s 25 oblasts.
